Connect the dots

polka dots
1, 2, 3,4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Going nuts over these adorable pastel polka dots I've seen popping up everywhere these days. I know its not the most "grown up" print but I can't help it! Something inside makes me happy to see these little dots dancing all about on these items. Call me youthful! I'll never grow up. I'll always be that girl that can't stop wearing those peter pan collared dresses. haha!
Is there a print that does that do you?
Hope you are having a great week. I've been having some kind of weird stomach issues this week. I hope they go away soon.

the camping life

camping life: wish list

This summer, we really took advantage of the weather and went on a few camping trips. We went to Joshua tree twice and Yosemite National Park. It was such an amazing experience! There's just something so peaceful and serene about being in the middle of nowhere and being surrounded by nature. I really enjoyed just walking around and taking photos. We've gotten better at packing for camping and invested in some equipment that makes it 1000 better. Here are a few items that I would love to splurge on for further camping trips. Hope you all are having a great week! What are your weekend plans? I am going to be attending a friend's wedding where there will be about 5 people there. Such a low key thing and I love it. It will be amazing! Can't wait to celebrate.

Masscob// Fall 2011

Masscob: Fall 2011

I'm afraid that fall weather hasn't quite hit us in California. I can't wait till it gets chilly enough to wear my new coat. Loving this collection by Masscob, a spanish line. Wish it was gonna get cold enough to wear that Lambskin Coat! I have to admit that I've been on a hunt for them since I saw this beautiful model in New York wearing one while we were out during fashion week. Oh well, guess that's the difference between California and New York. ugh. not being able to wear loads of cute winter clothes...
Speaking of New York, my brother's band, FIDLAR is there for CMJ. If you are around, there is a handful of free shows. Check them out!

Can't believe its only wednesday. Hurry up, weekend.

Fall trends

street style trends: fall 2011

all images from stockholm street style

Here are just a few street fall trends that have caught my eye as of late. I embrace the over sized sweater look. I got one from a friend for my birthday and its an amazing shade of red. Its comfy, its big and looks great with any pair of jeans! The next look I love is the play on this cobalt blue shade. I don't usually wear too much color but this shade is really calling my name for some reason. I also love how she has coordinated her hat, dress and tights with the same color. Bob hair cuts have really been on my mind as of late, only because my hair is down to my hips now and I desperately need to cut it. I probably wont go this short but I'd like to daydream about it and what type of outfits would compliment it. This girl looks absolutely adorable. What do you think? Lastly, leather mini skirts are on trend this season. I run into them everywhere these days. Zara has a pretty cute one that I might have to splurge on. We will see if I can brave my legs in the up coming cooler weather.

Hope your having a great day.

"but I miss you most of all, my darling...

autum leaves: fall 2011 wishlist

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

...when autumn leaves start to fall." I love that song. I was floored when I first heard Eva Cassidy covering it. She has such incredible tone to her voice.

Sorry for my absence. Been so busy lately that I forget to stop in to say hello! So, H E L L O.

I am really looking forward to fall. Its been a great long summer with lots of adventures but it will be nice to bundle up and sip on festive drinks like apple cider or a hot toddy. One of my favorite things about this time of year is that love to cook and I am gearing up to try a bunch of recipes in prep for thanksgiving!
I know I'm jumping the gun with it not even being Halloween but, as you know I have a tendency to get overloaded with other projects and plans so, planning ahead this time. Ryan and I are heading to Grass Valley in Northern California for thanksgiving this year then off to Hawaii for christmas with my parents. Its always funny that we go from a cold place to a tropical hot place back to back. Like some type of teleportation. Speaking of that... we've been really into 1960s sci fi movies lately. We watched the Time Machine based off of a H.G. Wells book. Have you read it? Its so funny to see what they thought of the future back in the 1960s.
Anyway, here's a few of my favorites that I've had my eyes on. I won't be getting anything anytime soon since I practically broke the bank with that darn Alexa Chung for Madewell collection. Serrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriously. Can't wait for tax season already. Until then its SAVE SAVE SAVE.

These images make me want to go frolic in the woods. Also love the fact that it was styled with pieces from H&M and Zara which makes me feel comforted that not all fashion editorals have to be high end driven. Sure, I'd love a $5,000 dress from Alexander McQueen but honestly, the price tag is a bit steep and I wouldn't know where I could go to even have a chance to wear such a beautiful garment. haha. I keep thinking of what Bill Cunningham kept point out in his documentary, BIll Cunningham, New York. He loves capturing street style because its a completely different element of fashion. Its practical fashion. What people actually wear when they are out and about vs. what we wish we were wearing, capturing these beautiful candid moments.

Hope all is well. Have a great weekend!

I had the amazing opportunity to see Feist last month as part of a in studios concert series through Yahoo and Starbucks. It was such an incredible performance and I am once again smitten by her as I was many years ago when I saw her first play at a tiny bar in Solano Beach. I think there was a total of 20 people. I was in complete shock how such a huge sultry voice came out of this tiny woman! Anyway, her new album, Metals just came out today. Do yourself a favor and get it. This album feels like more of her earlier stuff but with more depth and a kind of haunting vibe. I'm telling you, there are some catchy lines that sorta creep in your head and end up singing at random times of the day.

some favorite tracks: How Come You Never Go There
Graveyards
Comfort Me

If your hesitant, peep the live performances I was at HERE via Yahoo.

The above photos are from a secret show a few days ago in the Church of Intersession in Harlem. Looks pretty magical, doesn't it?
