hot hot heat
Whew. This california heat is KILLING me. It was 112 degrees in Pasadena a couple days ago. My poor cat was hiding under the bed cause it was so hot! So with this weather, I am still on spring/summer mode as far as outfits. Here are a mix of things I want from Steven Alan and Lover. Very soft colors. I am especially in love with this fuzzy soft sweater that this girl is wearing. WOW. love it!
ALSO, have you seen Abbey Lee's new look? oh my, I'm not especially a fan of hers but do really love this neutral look on her paired with bright pinkish coral lips. Very 1940s glamour. What do you think?

overalls!
so, I HATE taking pictures of myself. I just look so dumb and it takes me forever to make a natural face. Every picture has the terrified "deer in the headlights" look. haha. Anyway, here's the only picture of a zillion, just to show you my cute new Alexa Chung + Madewell short overalls along with my ferragamo flats that I scored a few months ago for $10 and my ever growing jewelry box. Anyway, the overalls are so comfy and fit great! They do stretch out a little but I think its suppose to be a little on the baggy side anyway. Have any of you gotten anything from her collection?

mori girls
I love mori girls. Mori in japanese means "forest" and a mori girl is a girl that looks like she lives in the forest among the trees and flowers. She wears long skirts and lots of layers and usually earthy tones. She is part alice in wonderland meets little red riding hood. She loves to frolic in the forest and is wholesome. A japanese magazine called Spoon is the mori girl bible.

she can do no wrong
Are you sick of her yet? because I can't get enough of her. The girl just gets me and captured my little fashion heart. At last I have found someone that understands my love for the preppy/school girl meets grandmas closet, tossed with vintage finds from the 60s.

street style inspiration
Just a few street style inspiration pics I came across recently that caught my eye. Are the John Lennon sunglasses back?
Don't think I could ever pull those off. I'd just look like a geeky Yoko Ono. haha.
My friend, Tim is visiting from Texas and we're going to Disneyland and all sorts of fun stuff this week. Hopefully, I'll have some pictures of our adventures.

marc jacobs spring 2011
I know its not even fall yet but I'm already wanting to wear spring clothes. Hmmm maybe cause its still so hot here in California. I have seen so many 70s inspired collections this fall and I see that it will carry on to the spring! I love the orange/red in this collection! It sorta feels a little APC inspired as well, don't you think?

Helllllo, Autum
I love California but sometimes I wish we had more of a drastic change in seasons. I love watching leaves change colors. Dreaming of cape coats and tartan plaids this fall. Such a giddy school girl...

BaddASS
I have a huge file of just images that I collect along the way and to my surprise I have quite a lot of ones that I call Hippie Rebel and I think I have come in terms that I am somewhat of the wild child hippie. So here are a few I've collected along with the

Edith Head: A Genius was Born
Edith Head is one my heros. While I was studying theatre, I was so intrigued by her that I wrote a 20 page paper for my costume design class and was only required to write 10. haha. So, yes, she is someone that I really love and someone that I think is both brilliant, cunning and extremely talented. She is has had 35 oscar nominations and 8 academy awards for her costume designs! She has worked with some of the actresses of her time including Bette Davis, Rita Hayworth, Elizabeth Taylor, Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and many many more. Sadly, she died just a couples years after I was born. I would've loved to chat with her and ask her to tell me stories.
If you have ever watched The Incredibles, Edna was losely based on Edith.

Today is Fashion Night Out in New York and they just started this year here in Los Angeles.
The concept is that we all take a moment and support the fashion industry by stopping by at your participating stores for a fun night of shopping. All stores will be open till later and there will be after parties around the city.
Check out their website for more info on which retailers will be participating!
The commercial below is kinda cheesy but it is really true, it helps boost our industry and in turn helps people keep their jobs.

A few street style pics I came across that I really liked. I especially love the denim overall/romper. I'd never be able to pull that off but doesn't it look adorable on this girl? European girls know good style. wowzers. Anyway, I'm on a hunt for the perfect boot. I might cave and save up to buy the Rachel Comey Mars bootie. Any ones out there have caught your eye?

Jenna Sauers: A Model Life
My friend Jenna who I met during fashion week last winter is an incredibly talented writer for Jezebel. Hailing from the island of New Zealand, Jenna got her start in the fashion industry as a model. She has such natural beauty and a wonderful witty humor that makes you just fall in love with her in an instant. I was delighted to see that her photo was up on Garance Dore's blog! She's got incredible style without ever trying. Effortless style and legs FOR DAYS. haha. One day I will have to go back to New York and give this lovely lady a huge hug and make those homemade dress forms!
OHH and if you want to be entertained during any fashion week, I suggest you follow her twitter. ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS.

"YOU AINT GOTS TA LIE, CRAIG" - FRIDAY
Yup. Starting up my outfit post back up. So many cute fall collections this season. Can't wait to start wearing more sweaters and coats...
BTW. This nars lipstick in heatwave is the perfect shade of red. Love it so much. It took me a long time of trail and error to get the right red lipstick that looks great with my skin tone. I highly recommend Nars Cosmetics. I splurged and bought make up from them for my wedding a year ago and have never looked back. Lasts all day and has the best shades!
Have a fun labor day weekend!
I'm off to a weekend with 5 of my man's best friends since elementary school! which includes our incredibly talented friend, Danny Roberts and his PR agent and brother, David Roberts.
I'll be sure to post pictures when I get back! OHH and I will be a year older next time I'm on here :)
