Style File: Jane Birkin
I am sure you all know who Jane Birkin is. She has such an incredible classic style that has inspired many. I love that she never over dressed or tried to hard. Jane has natural beauty that is shown through her style and personality. Her effortless style inspires me. I get the sense that she was just being herself and that is so important in your own individual style. Sometimes, a pair of jeans, t shirt and your smile is all you need. What an inspiration!
Have a great weekend!

HERE COMES THE SUN
To further my hippie obsession as of late, here is a fashion editorial I found a year ago that I have in pasted in my journal of inspiration for a long time. I keep coming back to it and loving that late 70s era and all the kooky Beatles songs that came out of it as well. What's even more fitting is that the male model in the editorial is George Harrison's son, Dhani Harrison. He looks so much like his father its crazy! And of course the other fabulous model is none other than, Sasha Pivovarova, one of my favorites! So, without further ado, HERE COMES THE SUN!!

Style File: Jenny Lewis
Always been a fan of Jenny Lewis. She's so talented and I love her americana folk/ hippie/ country style. Probably because deep down, I'm really a hippie at heart. My love for music stems from my mom's old 70s records that she had lying around. I remember driving in the car with my mom with the windows down and singing together the tunes of people like Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Carol King, The Beatles and Joni Mitchell. They just don't make music like they used to, thats for sure.

1940s: Inspiration
Found this picture via mr newton and she totally made me immediately think of the 1940s fashion. Even her hair and make up looks similar. Its crazy how just one photograph of a person makes you revisit an era. I love this particular era because it reminds me of my grandma's photos from when she was younger. My grandma was very beautiful. I will have to dig up some photos of her to show you all. But for now, these are a few I found.

Inspiration: Yoshitomo Nara
Art has always inspired me so even when I was a little girl back in Tokyo. Yoshitomo Nara has a way of capturing a childlike innocence in his character paintings with an edge of teenage rebellion that I always seemed to connect with. It takes me to a place long ago when I lived in Japan. I had the opportunity to go to his exhibit in Hawaii once and it was so amazing. A mix of modernism with my own feelings of nostalgia just blew my mind. I watched an interview once with him and he said he has always had a hard time expressing how he feels so thats why he started his artwork. He said he felt like he could capture his emotions more efficiently when given a canvas. And how many of us feel the same way with whatever our "vice" is? Fashion is an expression of you. How you feel, how you want people to perceive you. I love that for us, fashion enthusiasts, our body is like a canvas- Oh the beauty of style!
Donna Karan Spring 2010
Donna Karan knows what a woman wants. Knows what a woman wants to feel like. Her clothes are feminine, classic and always with a modern edge & chic. She's vital to American Fashion Design and a staple to any sophisticated woman's wardrobe. Here are a few of my favorites from her Spring collection. How can anyone not feel confident wearing these? absolutely beautiful. Another favorite is Donna Karan's ingenious infinity dress which is designed to wear in many different ways. How brilliant is that? You can wear the same dress a different way each time!
Danny Roberts sketch of the infinity dress is so lovely!

Back to Life...Back to Reality...
Slowly coming back to reality...
I have a slight cold still and Ryan is really sick so I will be playing nurse this week for him. Hope everyone is doing well. What is up with this rain and clouds these few days? I was just getting used to the sunny weather! Hopefully, the sun starts coming back for good. Today's style is in a relaxed resort wear vibe. Can you tell that I am dreaming of going on cruises? haha.
