If anyone knows me, they know that I am HUGE antique freak. I love that antiques have history, a past. I sometimes think up different stories and wonder who owned it last and what their lives were like. So, naturally when I heard about the amazing story of uncovered bins of undeveloped film, negatives and photographs dating back to the 1950s, I was so intrigued. I wanted to know more about the actual photographer and how it got discovered.
In a nutshell, a lucky real estate agent bought a couple of bins of photo negatives that had been repossessed from a storage unit at an auction in chicago. He initially thought he could use these photos for his book that he was compiling about his neighborhood in chicago. But when he took a closer look, he realized that these were the most amazing street photography he had come across. He wanted to know more about who the photographer was. All we know now is that her name is Vivian Maier and that she was a nanny for years and spent her time off taking these photos.
Many of the photographs have never been seen till recent. Read the detailed story here or here.

I have posted some of her amazing photos. You can go here and here to see more of her work.
Right now, they are raising money and are in the process of making a documentary film about her. Click here to donate.

Vivian Maier, you are an inspiration.
