All Dolled Up

I'm reading: All Dolled UpTweet this!

As part of my new years resolution, I wanted to "feel" healthy and sexy by changing my diet drastically but also really explore and experiment with areas of my style that I have been too shy or scared to try. One of those areas is *drum roll, please* MAKE UP. I do my usual eyeliner and a lil blush and maybe if I feel courageous, I'll slap on a lipstick. But I always felt like I was doing it wrong or never really liked the way I looked with it. So, I sat down this week and took a few lessons via the internet. I grew up not really having the money to invest in how I look. I would get haircuts once or twice a year the most and buy drugstore make up because I saw Drew Barrymore in a cover girl ad and if she looked great, I can too, right? WRONG. Drugstore make up tainted my experience with make up. I'd try all different ones and some would be okay and last till mid day but after that, I'd have to retouch or if I didn't I'd just get irritated and go wipe it all off, that way I didn't have to think about it anymore. haha. ridiculous but I felt like a 6 year old playing dress up with mommy's make up and trying to play it off like I knew what the heck I was doing. I can't express to you how many times my eyeliner was totally smudged making me look like I had raccoon eyes without me knowing. I don't get embarrassed easily but come on, when your in high school EVERYTHING is 10x more embarrassing! So, needless to say, over the years, I simply gave up on make up. Till I had the task of doing my make up for my own wedding. So, I took the plunge and bought quality make up and with the help from my friend, a former model I went for it. To my surprise it wasn't a disaster!

Here's a silly photo I took with flash to really capture the look better. I tried not to photoshop it too much that way you can see the true colors. Don't mind my retarded face.
SO, now I finally understood why people spend so much money in GOOD QUALITY make up. Its totally worth it! I still use certain drugstore bought make up that have proven to work well and stay on all day.
The lipstick I'm wearing here is a really really amazing color. Super bright coral pink. Very 60s and really stays on forever.
Here's to scratching the surface on make up and a year of fun experimenting!
My favorite make up so far has been from Chanel, Lancome and NARS. Nars is totally affordable and have such great lipsticks that really stay on.

GOOD Make up: Stila Tinted Moisturizer, Lancome L'Absolu Rouge in Chris and Tell limited edition Lipstick by Chris Benz, Nars blush in Orgasm, Laura Mercier Primer, Estee Lauder concealer, Napolean Perdis eyeshadow
DRUGSTORE BOUGHT: Maybelline Eyeliner, Jemma Kidd powder, Sonia Kashuk eyeshadow pallete.

That lipstick is SO pretty. I did try to look for it and you tell the truth and weren't just trying to keep it all for yourself. It really is sold out. Sigh! :)
